Mr. Bain Jordahl - Chief Instructor Mr. Bain started training in Tae Kwon Do in 2007. He received his 1st Dan in March of 2010, and soon followed with his 2nd Dan in March 2011. After focusing on recovering from some injuries he received his 3rd Dan in December 2015. He opened Yom Chi Martial Arts in 2016 and has never looked back! |
Master Akash Haridisan - 4th Dan Master Akash started Taekwondo as a child in India under his father and then went on to teach there as well. He moved to Nelson and took the culinary program. He works as a chef and as our sparring instructor. Akash has helped our students achieve many medals. He has been an outstanding addition to our Yom Chi family. |
Sensei Robert Aylwin 2nd Dan in TKD/4th Dan in Shotokan Karate Mr. Robert received his 1st Dan in Karate in February of 2000, his 3rd Dan in March of 2013 and his 4th Dan in April of 2017. He started Tae Kwon Do in 2008, and received his 1st Dan in the fall of 2009 and his 2nd Dan in the summer of 2012. Mr Robert is always available to help us out with our testings and is a great addition to our Yom Chi family! |
Parker Hargreaves - 2nd Dan and Instructor Parker joined Yom Chi Martial Arts in February of 2018 after being introduced to Taekwondo by her friend. She quickly excelled and a few months later her friend dropped out so Parker continued on her own. She has been helping teach classes with the Dragon Warriors since 2nd GUP and has been employed as one of our main instructors since receiving her first Dan in June of 2022. She recently became a 2nd Dan and looks forward to her high school graduation this summer! |
Sam Ross - 2nd Dan and Instructor Sam joined the Yom Chi Martial Arts After School program in September of 2017. The following year at 5th GUP he moved to the Advanced teen class and continued to train hard three days a week. He persevered through the pandemic to receive his 1st Poom in June of 2022. Since then he has been employed with Yom Chi as one of our Instructors. He recently became a 2nd Dan. |
Hartmut Kaden - 2nd Dan Hartmut started training with Mr. Bain at a previous school and then joined him at Yom Chi Martial Arts in February 2018 as a 1st GUP. He received his 1st Dan in December of 2018 and was the first to receive a Yom Chi Martial Arts Black Belt. He persevered through a challenging couple of years and in June of 2022 received his 2nd Dan. He no longer trains but is always willing to help out when we need him! |
Luc Charlwood - 2nd Dan Luc joined Yom Chi Martial Arts in September of 2017. He persevered through the pandemic to receive his 1st Poom in June of 2022 along side his sister Somer. He has continued his training continually since then and recently became a 2nd Dan. |
Coen Morris - 2nd Dan Coen joined Yom Chi Martial Arts in May of 2018 because his friend told him it was fun. His friend has since left Taekwondo but Coen loved it too much to stop. He persevered through the pandemic to receive his 1st Poom in June of 2022. He has continued his training continually since then and recently became a 2nd Dan. |
Honey Bellman - 2nd Dan Honey started training with Mr. Bain at previous school. She received her 1st Dan in the summer of 2012 and went on to receive her 2nd Dan in the fall of 2013. Miss Honey helps out with testings and tournaments when she can and it is always a pleasure to have her. We are so happy to have her as part of our Yom Chi family. |
Jan Korinek - 1st Dan Jan trained with Mr. Bain at a previous school and then joined Yom Chi Martial Arts in April of 2018 as a 4th GUP. He trained on and off, persevering through the pandemic to receive his 1st Dan in June of 2022. He has taken a hiatus but helps out when he can and plans to return to training in the future. |
Mackenzie Waugh - 1st Dan Mackenzie started training with Mr. Bain at a previous school and then moved with him to Yom Chi Martial Arts in October 2016 as a 3rd GUP. He received his 1st Dan in December of 2018. He now resides in Kelowna but anytime he is home for a holiday he comes to train with us and will come and help out anytime he's needed! |
Scarlet Euerby - 1st Dan Scarlet started her journey in Taekwondo as a young girl at another school. After a hiatus of a few years she found Yom Chi in 2017 and picked up right where she left off. She graduated high school last year and continued with her post secondary at Selkirk while maintaining her training to reach her goal of Black Belt. She received her Black Belt in December! |
Jack Gilbert - 1st Dan Jack started at Yom Chi shortly after we opened. He was one of our very first students and has persevered through many obstacles to reach his goal of becoming a Black Belt. He is quiet, yet determined and very powerful. He received her Black Belt in December! |
Miss. Rylie Jordahl - 1st Dan Miss. Rylie started training in Tae Kwon Do in 2006. She received her Poom Black Belt in the fall of 2013 at the age of eleven. She received her 1st Dan in 2016 when we opened Yom Chi Martial Arts. She graduated High School in 2020 with her first year of Culinary school under her belt and enjoys working as a chef. She helps out when she can and was instrumental in helping Yom Chi Martial Arts become what it is today! |
Theo McBurney - 1st Dan Theo joined Yom Chi Martial Arts in November of 2017. He trained on and off, persevering through the pandemic to receive his 1st Dan in June of 2022. He originally started with three members of his family and slowly they each left leaving him the sole member of his family to achieve a Black Belt. |
Jack Denny - 1st Poom Jack joined Yom Chi Martial Arts in April of 2017. He has been working hard to achieve his Poom and looks forward to his parents joining TKD so he can spar his Dad! |
Mack Beutel - 1st Poom Mack joined Yom Chi Martial Arts in October of 2017. His friend and his sister joined him but decided not to continue. Mack persevered through the pandemic to receive his 1st Poom in June of 2022. He recently moved with his family to Australia and is greatly missed. Mack is Yom Chi's youngest Black Belt at just eleven years old! |
